As the year concludes, I am starting to dream about 2023. A new workshop, a new online course, a new schedule…and yes, a new blog!
I have loved writing from the moment I could link words together to form a sentence. I remember the joy I felt when, at the age of six or seven, I stapled a few sheets of printer paper together, wrote a simple story about a boy detective on rollerblades, and illustrated it with my Crayola markers. I had written my first book! I’ve been writing ever since—novels, short stories, essays, memoir, short plays, even a few really bad poems. Before I began pursuing clinical mental health counseling, I received a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Idaho, and briefly considered becoming an English professor so I could live completely submerged in the writing world.
Life went a different and beautiful direction, but no matter how busy that life gets, I'm still always writing; I always find some way to squeeze it into the margins. Since I can't seem to give it up, I've decided to give it some purpose. So, for 2023, I will be launching a blog!
I am making zero promises about frequency of posts, because life is crazy, but I'm excited to start exploring my work as a therapist in a new way. Topics you will find popping up here may include spirituality, mental health, attachment theory, parenting, human development, interpersonal neurobiology, embodiment, self-care, an occasional foray into art and creativity, in-depth psychoeducation for concepts I frequently discuss with clients, any cool new things I'm learning and applying in counseling, and probably more than a few anecdotes from my own life, past and present.
Check back soon for more! And please subscribe, if you want to be notified when a new post appears.
